Miss Shannon started "Shannon Barnhart Dance Studio" in 1973. For short, the studio is fondly called SBDS as well. She has been teaching dance for over 50+ years and has a staff of 13 teachers, including her daughter, Jessica, who is now co-managing the studio operations.
Miss Shannon's goals has always been student focused, striving to build the self esteem of all students, regardless of ability.

Our Recitals
Our Annual Recital takes place every mid June, where all students have the opportunity to showcase their talents and dance routines that they have learned throughout the season. The 2027 date is set for June18th and 19th at Bellevue East auditorium. Each year, we choose a different theme to make it more fun! 2025 was "Divas and Boy Bands" and 2026 was "Gamerz".
Students get a USB of the show of their choice, a recital shirt and unlimited guest admissions to the show! We typically have three shows, although the younger students are in only one performance.
June 2027 will be Miss Shannon's 54th year, but because we do multiple shows, next year will be performances 115, 116, and 117!!

Pre-Ballet Combination - (ages 3-5) - (Mon 5:00,Wed.5:00, Sat 10:00)
Beginner Combination - (ages 6-8) - (Mon 6:00, Wed. 6:00, Sat 11:00)
Semi-Intermediate Combination - (ages 9&Up) - (Wed 5:00)

- Dress Code: Leotards and tights/any style or color Also: tank tops that fit tightly like a leotard
- Shoes:
*Pre Ballet: Pink ballet shoes and black tap shoes
*Beginners and Semi Intermediate: Tan slip on jazz shoes, black tap shoes
*Hip hop: Street clothes and tennis shoes
Not Allowed: T-shirts, Sweat Pants, Jeans
Hair: Must be secured back in a pony tail or bun

This will be our 35th year of competing! We have competed locally and nationally. Auditions for new teams are always the week following the dance recital. We usually have 4-5 teams.
Our Dance Company teams involve a lot of work to compete in 3-4 local, regional, & national dance competitions. Our Dance Company has performed at Universal Studios/ Florida, Disneyworld (twice) Statue of Liberty in New York, and in Branson, MO (3 times) Wisconsin Dells, Kansas City, Dallas, Las Vegas (twice) and Des Moines.
This is a taste of what it would be like to dance professionally and gives our dancers and unforgettable experience.
